Set of American topographical maps including an inset map of Amsterdam, dated 1936, a map of Hamburg Amsterdam dated 1939, a map of the English Channel dated 19421943, as well as several maps covering French areas Saint-Nazaire Nantes (1944), Mantes (1943), NogentleRotrou (1943), Dreux (1943), Rambouillet (1943), Courville sur Eure (1943), Chartres (1943), Illers (1943), Voves (1943), Chevreuse (1943), Etampes (1943), Paris East (1943), Paris West (1943), Pontoise (1943), Gace (1943), Bernay (1943), Orbec (1943), and Falaise (1942). Some maps show signs of folding and tearing. Some wear and a marked patina on the pieces should be noted, as well as a few visible stains. Condition II+. According to the seller's information, the GIs who had kept these maps since the fighting in Normandy, used them to burn for warmth in the freezing winter of 1944.
