On 26 December 1944, a glider supply operation was carried out to bring medical supplies and nursing staff to Bastogne. A glider carrying a medical team of five doctors, four nurses and around 300 kg of equipment was dropped from Verdun. Unfortunately, due to an early release, the glider landed on the edge of the intended landing zone, exposing the team to enemy lines. Despite this, the medics managed to reach the divisional hospital at around 5.30pm that day.
