A set of American name bags comprising a first bag in heavy OD7 canvas, with a present but detached fastener. It is marked Richard J Schmitz 39389693, of Lewis, Washington, although the manufacturer's markings are illegible. The second bag, also in OD7 canvas, has its fastener present and is marked Sarolea and Jenkins 37599442, of Nobles, Minesota, with numerous laundry numbers visible, while the maker's markings are illegible. The third bag, again in OD7 canvas, has a full fastening and Evans Douget 34236089. This bag is also marked with invasion stripes numbered 46371, corresponding to the 50th Armored Infantry Bn Co B, although the maker's markings are illegible. During the Battle of the Bulge, the battalion faced extreme winter conditions and intense enemy attacks. On 3 January 1945, a German counter-attack was repulsed, but at the cost of heavy losses for the battalion. There is some wear, a marked patina, and visible snags and stains throughout. Condition II+. Set of named US pack bags including a first heavy OD7 canvas bag with an attachment present but unstitched. It bears the name Richard J Schmitz 39389693 from Lewis, Washington, although the manufacturer markings are illegible. The second bag, also made of durable OD7 canvas, has its attachment intact and bears the names Sarolea and Jenkins 37599442 from Nobles, Minnesota, with numerous laundry numbers visible, while the manufacturer markings are illegible. The third bag, also OD7 canvas, has a complete attachment and bears the name Evans Douget 34236089. This bag is also marked with invasion bands number 46371, corresponding to the 50th Armored Infantry Battalion Company B, although the manufacturer markings are illegible. During the Battle of the Ardennes, the battalion faced extreme winter conditions and intense enemy attacks. On January 3, 1945, a German counterattack was repelled, but at heavy cost to the battalion. Note some wear, pronounced patina, as well as visible snags and stains on all items. Condition II+.
