A Neoclassical 1st title silver and vermeil set comprising: - a large pedestal bowl by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd, with elaborate vine cluster decoration to the rim and foot. H. 9.5 cm and Diam. 25.5 cm, Weight : 930 g - A pedestal bowl with two handles decorated with antique profiles and engraved vine leaves on the body and lid surmounted by a swan. H. 11.5 x 15 x 12.5 cm, Weight : 385 g Total weight : 1315 g The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company was founded in 1880 by William Gibson and John Lawrence Langman, with its headquarters at 112 Regent Street, London. The company quickly made a name for itself producing and selling a wide range of items, including sterling silver coins, cutlery, jewellery, watches, trophies and surgical instruments. In 1893, the company absorbed The Goldsmiths' Alliance Ltd (formerly A.B. Savory & Sons), strengthening its position in the market. Five years later, in 1898, it became a limited company, adopting the name Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co. Ltd. The company participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, such as the London Colonial and Indian Exhibition in 1886, the Paris World's Fair in 1889 and 1900, and the Franco-British Exhibition in London in 1908, demonstrating its commitment to excellence and innovation.
