The 17th-century German Baroque sculptor Georg Petel's depiction of Christ is particularly notable for its expressiveness and sense of drama. Petel is known for his sculptures in wood, stone and ivory, but his ability to work in marble and bronze also left a significant mark. Petel's works often focus on religious themes, and his depictions of Christ seek to capture the suffering and spirituality of the figure. Petel has a remarkable mastery of anatomical detail, which helps to bring his figures to life. His attention to musculature and gestures adds a realistic dimension to his works. The sculptor who created our Christ was undoubtedly familiar with Petel's work and was able to combine technique and emotion in his depiction of Christ, making this sculpture a work of great spiritual and artistic depth.
