SWORD OF GENERAL STAFF VENDEMIAIRE YEAR XII Mounted in finely chased gilt bronze. Pommel with empanached helmet. Jointed arch with faceted centrepiece. Antique helmet body knot and pennants. Wooden fuse covered with alternating silver filigree. Blade Solingen blade, straight with hollow sides engraved in gold and one third blued. Leather scabbard with two brass fittings, button cap with palmette decoration (the bolt is missing). France, First Empire period. Total length: 98 cm PROVENANCE : - Roger de Montégudet collection (1880-1925) - by descent to this day.
