GENERAL OFFICER'S SWORD Mounted in chased bronze, burnished and embossed. Pommel in the shape of a helmet, jointed arch decorated with a trophy of arms joined by two straight quillons. Body knot with laurel wreath. Symmetrical shell decorated with features, and acanthus leaves. Spindle wood covered with a double alternating filigree in silver. Straight blade with triangular section chased, gilded and blued throughout. Leather scabbard with two gilt brass gilt brass fittings, cap with lictor beam in a laurel wreath (missing button), accidents. France, Consulate period, First Empire.
