Erhard Amadeus Dier (1893 Vienna - 1969 Klosterneuburg) The three ages of life Symbolist, large-format work by the well-known Austrian painter and graphic artist. Dier studied under Camillo Sitte and Josef Jungwirth at the Vienna Academy and travelled to Switzerland, Italy and Spain. He made his debut at the Vienna Künstlerhaus in 1917 and became a member in 1921. During the National Socialist era, Dier, who lived in Berlin for a long time, also exhibited 20 works at the Great German Art Exhibitions in Munich from 1937 to 1943, with his nude drawings in particular attracting the interest of leading National Socialists. In addition to being a versatile painter, Dier also worked as an illustrator, creating designs for Austrian banknotes, tapestries, wallpaper and church windows. He also worked for Rosenthal from 1931-1937 and for Deutsche Zeichenfilm GmbH, which existed from 1941-1944. Oil on canvas; signed a.; 190 cm x 200.5 cm. Frame moulding.
