Erich Waske (1889 Berlin - 1978 ibid.)
Still life with flower vase and orange in front of a Mediterranean landscape
Waske, who studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Berlin-Charlottenburg from 1906 to 1908, belonged to the first generation of Expressionists. In 1910, he made his debut with a painting at the exhibition "Rejects of the Secession Berlin 1910", alongside Max Pechstein, Otto Mueller, Erich Heckel, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. From 1912/13, he took part in many exhibitions in Berlin and other cities, and in 1919 and 1924 articles about him appeared in the leading art magazines "Deutsche Kunst und Dekoration" and "Die Kunst für alle". After the Nazi era and the Second World War, Waske, like many painters of the lost generation, was no longer able to build on his former successes before 1933. Oil/cardboard. Signed a. r. a. dat.
