Ernest DAME (1845-1920). A seated Irish Setter. Bronze subject with golden patina, signed on the terrace. Stamped "Exposition Paris 1900 Médaille d'or HV". Dimensions 14 x 15 x 9 cm. A student of Francisque Duret, Eugène-Louis Lequesne, Eugène Guillaume and Jules Cavelier at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Ernest Damé was awarded a 2nd class medal at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1875 and a 3rd class medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1878, among others. His Monument à Claude Chappe, erected in Paris in 1893 at the corner of rue du Bac and boulevard Saint-Germain, one of his best-known works, was sent to be cast under the Vichy regime. It depicts Victor Jacquemont in stone on the Lobau façade of Paris City Hall.
