Erwin Wurm * (born in Bruck/Mur in 1954) "Hint", 2012, on the underside in the cast signed handwritten E Wurm, one wheel monogrammed EW and numbered 1/5 (+ 1 AP), c. 31 x 72 x 38 cm Provenance: Collection, Brussels Erwin Wurm's works are easily accessible and yet are profound. They link the mundane with abstract sculptural questions and thus allow both to appear in a new light. Wurm thereby comments on art and life, fears and passions, and the seriousness of life and fun. Social phenomena, political attitudes, childhood memories and psychological states manifest themselves in Erwin Wurm's sculptures and cause the visitor to involuntarily question the foundations of his values and society. Ronja Friedrichs – From: “Mir war meine Kunst zu schade für Politik.” catalogue: Erwin Wurm, MKM Museum Küppersmühle / Lehmbruck Museum, Duisburg, Wienand Verlag, 2017 I actually wanted to study painting but by chance I became a sculptor. As a result, I began to think about what sculpture might be today. This led me to the matter of emptiness, possibility and volume, [...] the basic qualities of sculpture. Erwin Wurm
