First edition, illustrated with a coloured title vignette, a page with the three coats of arms of the Club Alpin Français in colour, 4 full-page engravings and 17 vignettes in the text (one of which is coloured). Private edition of only 90 copies, this one of 20 copies on Rives (No. 7). The wash drawings are by Jeanès, the vignettes and lamp-ends by Libis, all wood-engraved by Georges Beltrand. Signed autograph letter from the author to Albert Blanc, with a business card enclosed. Two ex-libraries pasted on the inside cover, one of which is reproduced on the back cover. Achille Escudié was the son of Benjamin Escudié, who had taken over the photography studio from his father-in-law Philippe-Fortuné Durand, the first photographer in Lyon.
