STAR-SHAPED CLADDING TILE Rare facing tile in the shape of an eight-pointed with eight branches. Engobed siliceous clay, moulded and underglaze painted decoration in white, turquoise, cobalt blue and manganese violet with a peacock feather eye in a mandorla in a mandorla over a calligraphic character (Allah?) and flowers and foliage. and foliage. Fillet on the rim. Medieval Iran, late 14th century. Height: 21.9 cm - Width: 22.2 cm (Visible damage and missing parts, one branch branch) Our star is extremely close (although larger) to the one in the Museum für Islamische Kunst in Islamische Kunst in Berlin [Ident. Nr.: I. 5/73] which is late 14th, early 15th century (Fig.1)
