Tiki in the form of a caryatid, shown standing with both hands on his stomach. It is decorated with scarification marks on the body and cheeks (the ends of the legs are missing). Worn and missing.
Height: 27 cm.
Polynesia, Marquesas Islands. 19th century. These three old stilt stirrups from the Marquesas Islands were collected in situ by C. Gentille, commander of the schooner Orohena, in Tahiti and the South Seas between 1878 and 1882. They have remained in the family since the end of the 19th century.
