ETRUSCAN BUCCHERO BLACK POLISHED DUCK-SHAPED ASKOS Ca. 800 - 600 BC. A black polished terracotta askos in the form of a stylised duck, with a rounded body and a short, upturned tail. The head rises vertically, with a slightly forward-leaning beak and pronounced eye ridges, while a vertical ring handle connects the back of the neck to the rear of the vessel. The surface is decorated with finely incised herringbone motifs arranged in curved bands across the body to imitate plumage. A small spout projects from beneath the tail.
