ETRUSCAN RED-FIGURE OINOCHOE WITH SATYRS.
Ca. 350 - 300 BC
A red-figure terracotta oinochoe of shape six, with a beaked spout, cylindrical neck, and a low carination marking the transition to the lower body, set on a narrow ring foot. A strap handle rises from the shoulder to the rim. The front side shows two satyrs, one playing the aulos while the other advances towards him, the figures with added white and ochre details. The scene is framed above by a band of tongues and by vegetal ornament on the reverse. The lower body is left plain beneath the carination.
