ETRUSCAN TERRACOTTA FIGURE OF AN OFFERING WOMAN.
Ca. 300 - 200 BCA terracotta figure of an offering woman, modelled standing frontally in a long mantle drawn up over the head as a veil and wrapped closely around the body. The face is rendered with a straight nose, closed mouth and framed eyes, the hair arranged in tight curls beneath the veil. The right forearm emerges from the drapery, with the hand placed over the upper torso, and the garment falls in broad, planar fields. The feet are shown on an integral plinth.Size: 870mm x 250mm; Weight: 15.2kg.Private London collection; previously acquired on the Belgium art market; originally in the collection of D Bogaerts, Brussels 1990’s.This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.For similar see: M.
