Carved from wood. Flat, anthropomorphic in shape, it features a portrait of Napoleon III, who died in 1873 (hence the date on the case), wearing the pompom cap of the 1st Regiment of Voltigeurs of the Imperial Guard. Bears the monogram: ‘L.E.L’ and the date ‘1873’. Concealed opening and a scraper beneath the base. Blackened hair and beard.
