Eugen Boermel (Börmel) (1858 Königsberg/East Prussia - 1932 Berlin) Small bust of Apollo from Belvedere Bronze, dark brown patina. Signed and dated (18)98. (After the famous Roman marble statue (2nd century A.D.) which was rediscovered at the end of the 15th century and was considered the most beautiful preserved single figure of antiquity until the end of the 19th century - Goethe also owned a bust; it is located in the statue courtyard of the Vatican Belvedere, part of the antiquities collection of the Vatican Museums in Rome. H. 16.5 cm. Dark brown patinated bronze. Signed and dated (18)98. Bust after the Apollo Belvedere marble sculpture in the Vatican Museums in Rome.
