Eugen Bracht. (1842 Morges - 1921 Darmstadt) "Evening in the reeds". Original title Atmospheric landscape, probably painted en plein air, from the mature oeuvre of Bracht, who was one of the most important German landscape painters of his time. In the 1890s, Bracht made a decisive turn towards Impressionism with bright colouring, a spontaneous, loose style and compositions emphasising planes. Oil on canvas; signed and dated lower right.
