Eugène Boudin (1824 Honfleur - 1898 Paris) Dry boats on the Normandy beach at low tide Boudin is considered a pioneer of Impressionism and one of the first open-air painters. After 1850, he belonged to an artists' colony near Honfleur with Gustave Courbet, Johan Barthold Jongkind and Claude Monet. In 1874, he took part in the first Impressionist exhibition in Paris, which was attended by Monet, Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Alfred Sisley, among others. Pencil (a. watercolour?)/paper. Faded monogram stamp (Lugt 828). Heavily browned. Sheet 15.3 cm x 22.7 cm. Provenance: From a German private collection. Pencil (and watercolour?) on paper.
