The goddess's face is bent downwards, her features serene, she seems to be watching over her patron. she seems to be watching over her guardian. Terracotta with white slip. H. 32.5 x W. 24.5 cm Greece, 4th-3rd century BC A Greek votive terracotta bust of Athena wearing an open Beotian helmet with stylised plume on top of the head. Arms conventionally truncated, the torso rests on a large terracotta block base decorated with a small ridge The back of the fig- ure is un-modelled save a finely detailed triple braid projecting out from the back of the helmet. Well-proportioned classical face looking downward which suggests that the figure may have been displayed perhaps in an elevated niche in a tomb chamber or above an altar. 4th-3rd Century BCE.
