Exceptional cabinet in European varnish in imitation of Chinese lacquer, opening to three wide leaves decorated with pierced rocks, flowering branches animated with birds and chrysanthemums, in red lacquer frames with pebbled decoration adorned with ribbon friezes, acanthus leaves and wide agraphes with rocaille foliage cartouches. Ebony veneered top and plinth. Regency period. Height 148 cm - Width : 183,5 cm - Depth : 48 cm Our piece of furniture is part of a small corpus of low lacquered cupboards, from China and European varnish : a similar pair from the sale of the collection of Madame André Saint, Maître Ader sale, 20, 21 May 1935 Lot 136 (reproduced).
