Exquisite Louis XV tabatiere with hunting scenes. Yellow gold. Fitting curved cartouche shape with flat hinged lid. The lid and base with a remarkably banded, orange and honey-coloured, so-called coral agate set in a profiled gold mount. Two horizontally divided walls. The lower half with an extremely detailed and relief-worked, revolving depiction of hunting scenes of various game species with packs of dogs in front of a wooded landscape. Above, an architectural, rural landscape with anglers, farmers and various animals. The inside of the lid behind faceted glass with inset polychrome tempera painting and depiction of a gallant scene with two women and a man in baroque robes in front of a park landscape with fountain and antique architectural elements. Fittingly curved, delicately voluted push-piece. With old inventory numbers on the lid and inside. Weight approx. 155 g. H. 2.1 cm. 7.8 cm x 5.5 cm.
