FALLA (Manuel de). Born in Cadiz. 1876-1946. Spanish composer. L.A.S. "Manuel de Falla" to Henri Monnet. Granada, 13 January 1928. 4 pp. in-8. In French. L.A.S. After agreeing to the evening of 8 March, he asks ...Madame Halphen herself to come to an agreement with Robert Lyon and the management of the Opéra-Comique in order to avoid any complications from now on ... to fix the dates of the concerts and rehearsals. ...It is, no doubt, a question of an audition without a performance of the Retable [the opera "Retable de Maître Pierre"], isn't it? We can only count on the same performers from the Concert Pleyel, who I hope will also be those from the Opéra-Comique (Dufranne and Salignac). As for the role of the child, I don't yet know if (he) will be sung by Vera (?). I hope so... As for the programme plan, he bows to Mme Halphen's wishes, and hopes ...that the project that Monsieur Christian Zevors [sic for Zervos] told me about (concerning young Spanish music) will be honourably (?) realised... Pianist and violinist, friend of Igor Stravinsky, Henri Monnet was a member of the Board of Directors of the Salle Pleyel. Along with Robert Lyon and Paul Robert, he was one of the founders of the Orchestre symphonique de Paris. The wife of the composer Fernand Halphen ran a much sought-after music salon in her town house on rue Dumont-d'Urville.
