Faul Swiss Craft 700, 1964, VM diesel-engine 2.8 liter, 4 cylinder, inboard, 121 kw/ 165 hp, ZF-Hurt transmission with a fixed shaft drive and bronze propeller, length approx. 7,00 meters, width approx. 2.30 meters, depth approx. 0,60 meters, tare approx. 1.790 kg, capacity for 7-8 persons, extensive restoration work in 2006 (listing present), incl. Ruschmeier boat trailer, registration for the "Bodensee" present Type history: Johannes Faul, sun of a shoemaker, learned at the "Riesbacher Werft Meierhofer" the profession of a boat builder and became self-employed after a couple of years. After a trip to America, he should be named "Johannes Faul" and brought next to his name also the inspiration handmade boats back. Impressed of the elegance of the "Chris-Craft-Boats" which are still known today, he created after his trip back to the Zurich lake the brand Swiss Craft. Until 1974 the yacht shipyard in "Horgan" produced 1.135 wooden boats such as mahogany- sportboats, cruiser, Indian canoes as well as a lot of special boats produced for export. After the dead of John Faul in the year 1945, the company has been taken over by his sons Hans, Franz and Ernst. With a lower demand concerning motorboats during the period of war and post-war, the company has been mainly producing yacht's and dinghies. Another upturn within the 1950's made plastic boats more popular and repressed handmade wooden boats. Even though the family business stuck to their dream of manufacturing wooden boats, they had to stop the self production in the mid 70's because of reasons of cost. The company has changed to import and is now run by the fourth generation.
