Fausto Bonaro (Masi - San Remo 1929) VIEW OF NICE oil on canvas, 37x61 cm signed lower right VIEW OF NICE oil on canvas, 37x61 cm signed lower right Bibliography E. Makzume (with an introduction by P. Mansel), Fausto Bonaro. The Soultan's Italian Court Painter, Florence 2021, p. 44 After the exhibition at the San Remo Casino in 1912, where most of the works presented were on oriental subjects, between 1912 and 1916, Zonaro prepared for the Montecarlo Exhibition in the salons of the Sporting Club with a series of works depicting the beauty of the Riviera and the Côte d'Azur. The art critic Ettore Donetti presented the exhibition as follows: 'Zonaro does not only portray nature as it appears in its most dazzling or its coldest manifestations, but knows how to choose and seize the right moment when the portrayed scene says in its synthesis the whole soul of the portrayed landscapes. This is why anyone visiting the exhibition remains impressed and admired in front of his paintings' (R. Falchi, Le tre stagioni pittoriche di Fausto Zonaro, Poggibonsi 1994, p. 124).
