Finely painted, small domestic altar as a triptych in the style of the 15th century. Hinged, polished wooden frame with locking hooks and brass chain. Profiled frame mouldings with coving, the wings decorated on the outside with family coats of arms. Inside, extremely finely and richly detailed painted gouaches on paper. The centre panel depicts a multi-figure crucifixion scene with an elaborately and imaginatively painted landscape in the background. In the left wing, the donor is kneeling with his son as a squire at a lectern, accompanied by a clergyman or saint with a crozier, Bible and model of a church; behind him is a wide landscape with an impressive castle, crowned by a coat of arms with a crest. Correspondingly, the right wing depicts the female donor figure, who is accompanied by a crowned female figure with a book and crown, who could be interpreted as St Elizabeth and the patron saint of the donor; behind her, a subtly arranged landscape opens up again, above which an angel with a coat of arms hovers. Framing 29 cm x 31 cm / 62.5 cm x 3.5 cm and 7.5 cm respectively.
