Fine coffee déjeuner from the "Bayrischer Königsservice" 6-piece set; coffee pot, milk jug, sugar bowl, 2 coffee cups with saucers and tray. Of dodecagonal faceted form with a fine, gold-flecked rim with a blue outline surrounded by blue-shaded pearl cord. On the wall and in the centre gold-etched loop medallions with various landscapes and views such as the opera house in Hanover in fine grisaille painting. Designed by Dominikus Auliczek. Tray inscribed "1991 750 Jahre Hannover". Manufacturer's mark. Jug h. 19 cm. Tray 38.5 cm x 26 cm. Commissioned by the electoral court around 1792 - 1795, this originally so-called "Perlservice" is the first European porcelain service in which the designer chose a dodecagon as the basic shape. Until the beginning of the 20th century, its use was reserved exclusively for the House of Wittelsbach. Cf. Ziffer, Nymphenburg Porcelain, Bäuml Collection pp. 194ff.
