Lot no. 94
Félix BRACQUEMOND (Paris, 1833 - Sèvres, 1914) Set of six studies for the "Flowers and Ribbons" service - circa 1878 Watercolour and gouache over pencil on tracing paper Size of largest sheet: 24.5 x 24 cm Without frame Set of 6 sheets These precious tracing studies, in an excellent state of preservation, together with the proofs of the watercolour prints in the New York Public Library, give a precise indication of the colours intended by Bracquemond, and confirm that he was entirely responsible for this choice, the execution of which was then passed on to the manufactory. Meticulous connoisseurs will note a number of alterations, as well as the muffling of an initially lighter and brighter colour on the plate, and, as with all the pieces, the firmer marking of the contours thanks to the intervention of the engraver.
