This impressive ivory panel carved in relief depicting a group of beggars stopping off in a forest can be compared with the series of paintings and wooden panels produced by Pierre-Adrien Graillon (Dieppe 1807-Dieppe 1872) in the 1850s and 1860s. The theme was probably taken up again after his death by his workshop run by his sons Félix (1833-1891) and César Graillon (1831-1913).
