Lot no. 141
BISCUIT FIGURE, NAST MANUFACTORY, CIRCA 1810
representing Neptune; some wear and tear and minor defects
H 33 cm, W 12 cm
A NAST BISCUIT FIGURE, CIRCA 1810; SLIGHTLY WORN, MINOR DEFECTS
Our figure appears in a series with some centrepiece elements now in the Royal Palace, Turin. They belong to two different series attributed to the Parisian manufacture of Nast (with a date at the end of the 18th century probably to be moved to the beginning of the following century) on the basis of the evidence of material and style and the presence of five signed biscuits. In particular, the illustrated lot appears to be compatible with the second group of seven figures, all between 34.7 and 31.7 centimetres in size (P. San Martino in AA.VVV, Porcellane e argenti del Palazzo Reale di Torino, exhibition catalogue, Turin 1986, cards 128 and 129, p. 296).
