Figures in a Landscape Spanish School, late 18th century oil on canvas 34 x 46 cm A composition of 18th-century taste depicting a group of figures immersed in a luminous landscape with architecture in the background. The gentleman in the foreground, accompanied by a female figure and a young man, animates the scene with a dynamic and theatrical gesture, according to a narrative language typical of late 18th-century Spanish figurative culture. The soft, atmospheric pictorial drafting is distinguished by a warm, harmonious palette, played on earthy tones and delicate light modulations, revealing affinities with the Spanish painting tradition of the time and the sensitivity of the Goyesque circle. The work fits elegantly into the context of the production of the Iberian area between the 18th and 19th centuries, evoking that intimate yet theatrical dimension that characterises the best genre painting of the period. Presented in a gilded wooden frame.
