Extremely fine micromosaic panel
On a rectangular copper panel, the detailed, fine depiction, framed in gold, of a lurking, playful, white-brown spotted dog in front of a retreating reddish-white tabby cat. In the background is a wooded lake landscape with a small house, the outlines of mountains and towns on the horizon. Modelled on a painting attributed to the Bohemian artist Johann Wenzel Peter (1745-1829), who was active in Rome and frequently designed motifs for micromosaics. 5 cm x 6.5 cm.
