FINE WOOL AND SILK NAIN RUG (Iran, circa 1975) Midnight-blue field decorated with branches of fine crenellated stems of flowering palmettes surrounded by finely drawn foliage adorned with a large central rosette in the form of a sun with a crown of old gold, ivory and bluish grey flowers. Four spandrels with motifs echoing the central medallion. Three borders, the main one beige with interlacing fine branches inlaid with floral bulbs in the form of stylised diamonds. Wool velvet, flowers surrounded by silk on a cotton base. L. 190 x W. 113 cm. (Good condition, carpet has been cleaned)
