Flemish painter (probably active in Antwerp in the 17th century) Holy family with angel in a wreath of flowers Transverse oval picture field with a southern, Arcadian river landscape, in which the small-figure group of the resting Holy Family is composed, on the right the angel with a donkey as a reference to the flight to Egypt. The scene is surrounded by a wreath of spring and summer flowers with brightly coloured blossoms on a black background. Finely painted, meticulously executed depiction of both the scene and the flowers in the tradition of Jan Brueghel the Elder and the Younger. Gouache and tempera(?)/paper. Approx. 24 cm x 33.5 cm.
