The figure of St Sebastian standing against a tree stump as a youthful, beautiful half nude with arrows in his thigh and upper left arm. The composition of the present small cabinet painting is based on a canvas with the same motif, painted by Annibale Carraci around 1590/91 (now in a private collection). This motif was later reproduced in a much larger format in a painting by his cousin Ludovico Carracci (now in the Galleria Doria Pamphilj in Rome). 15.9 x 11.9 cm. Frame.
