Fawn morocco, cold-stamped fillets running along the inner edge of the boards, ending in a gilt bat iron, spine ribbed and decorated with gilt dots and dashes extending slightly over the boards up to the bat, bordered maroquin lining with a gilt fillet and decorated with a cold-stamped fillet, bordeaux silk endpapers, double endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, bordered slipcase (G. G. Levitzky). Sought-after deluxe edition, illustrated with 32 compositions by Georges ROCHEGROSSE (1859-1938) etched in colour by Eugène Decisy, of which 26 are in the text and 6 outside the text. There is also a title vignette and eight different frames for each part, reproduced in grey. Edition of 350 copies. This is the ONLY EXEMPLEIRE, in addition to the edition indicated, on Arches wove paper, CONTAINING ALL THE ORIGINAL DRAWINGS BY GEORGES ROCHEGROSSE, justified by the publisher. It is not cited in any of the bibliographies consulted. It contains the superb watercolour drawings, enhanced with gouache and signed on strong wove paper, of the 32 etchings, the colour drawing with variants of the title vignette, and the Indian ink drawing of the 8 frames on card, making a total of 41 ORIGINAL DRAWINGS. The copy is also enriched with the following items: - a double suite of etchings (first state in black and finished state in colour with remarks), - the proof of the colour suite with remarks of the 32 etchings, on wove paper, each proof justified and signed by the artist, some with autograph indications, - the publication prospectus. A very fine copy in a later double binding by Grégoire Levitzky, very well preserved.
