Several small brown spots. A native of Arques, Marie-Henri Ducrotay de Blainville (1777-1850) was a French anatomist and zoologist, a disciple of Georges Cuvier. He contributed to the classification of living beings, introducing the term "biology" in a modern sense. He also left his name to the "Blainville curve", used in acoustics. Wet stamp of the Château de la Roche Guyon on the title, handwritten bookplate of La Roche Guyon on the cover, armorial bookplate of Pierre de La Rochefoucauld on the flyleaf. Ex-libris JM.
