In leaves, publisher's blue cloth slipcase. One of the most beautiful works illustrated by Léonard FOUJITA (1886-1968). Prefaced by Maurice Genevoix, the edition includes texts by Albert Fournier accompanied by 22 compositions by Léonard Foujita, wood-engraved by Henri Renaud, including one on the title, repeated on the cover, one full-page self-portrait of the artist, 18 in the text and 2 on double-page spreads, all in colour except for the grey title. The book ends with a text by Guy Dornand entitled Foujita Parisien de Tokyo. Print run announced at 262 copies. This one, on Arches vellum, is not numbered but nominative, specially printed for Pierre Barthélémy, including this autograph signed letter from the artist: to Mr Pierre Barthelemy // Tributes from the artist // Leonard Foujita The copy has been exceptionally enriched with the following items: - a special suite of colour plates on Arches vellum (without the proofs of the illustrations on pages 25 and 69), - two silk proofs, including the proof of the second double-page illustration, - the colour breakdown of two different plates, - the letter signed by the publisher Pierre du Tartas, on the letterhead of the publishing house, which was enclosed, indicating the items added to this copy. The slipcase is discoloured and shows wear to the cloth.
