19th CENTURY SILK FRAGMENT Ivory embroidered with canetille and gold lamé, decorated with friezes of ears of wheat. Presented under glass on a green velvet background in a gilded frame with a cartouche reading "The coronation of Emperor Napoleon I". 24 x 15.5 cm B.E. Provenance : Former Napoleonic collection of the Prince's Palace of Monaco (2nd sale, lot 163) A silk fragment with a wheat ear decoration, embroidered with canetille and gold lamé, from the 19th C. Commentary: This is not a fragment of the coronation tunic, which, although made of ivory silk, like our fragment, did not have an embroidery of ears of wheat.
