Provenance : Former Napoleonic collection of the Prince's Palace of Monaco (2nd sale, lot 163) A silk fragment with a wheat ear decoration, embroidered with canetille and gold lamé, from the 19th C. Commentary: This is not a fragment of the coronation tunic, which, although made of ivory silk, like our fragment, did not have an embroidery of ears of wheat.
