FRAGMENT OF A MARBLE TOMBSTONE Roman art, circa 1st-2nd century AD Fragment of a funerary stele depicting a classic dexiosis or last handshake scene, worked in relief of a couple banqueting. The man, the deceased, dressed in a himation, is half-reclining on a bed, holding a cup in his left hand and holding out his right towards his wife, dressed in a chiton and a himation, who has come to say farewell. In the centre background, a palm tree. Missing.
