FRAGMENT OF A “CARTAPESTA” CORPUS CHRISTUS
Italy, probably Tuscany, 15th century.
Polychrome painted cartapesta on plaster over wooden core (partly supplemented and reinforced) and linen fabric. Loincloth made of plastered textiles, knotted on the right hip. Iron eyelet on the back for fastening.
H ca. 112 cm.
Restored. Left arm repaired. Cracks, paint abrasions, chips.

According to the inventory, the object was restored in December 1991 and 1992 by Michele D. Marincola, former restorer at the MET Cloisters in New York.
