In-8, green morocco, gilt framed with a gilt and mosaic Egyptian scarab at the corners of the boards, spine similarly decorated, cherry morocco lining edged with olive morocco and framed with a gilt roulette and fillets, with 4 papyrus flowers in gilt and mosaic fleurons at the corners, double brown moiré satin and marbled paper endpaper, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, slipcase (G. Mercier). Illustrated with 15 etchings by Eugène Decisy after drawings by Georges Rochegrosse, including a coloured frontispiece. One of 65 first copies on japon impérial paper, containing 3 states of the etchings, including the pure etching, enriched with an original watercolour signed by Rochegrosse and, at the end of the volume, 3 wood-engraved portraits of Anatole France printed on Chine, by Florian and Steinlen. 4-page prospectus bound at the end. Autograph signed letter from Anatole France to Marcel Bénard. A very fine copy in an original binding signed by Georges Mercier, with delicate decoration inspired by ancient Egypt.
