FR. ET NAV. REX. MAR. ANT. AUSTR. REG. Joined busts of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette on the right. Signature C. H. K. on the edge of the neck. Below, FATI INIQUI. Rv. CRINEMQUE ROTANTES SANGUINEUM POPULIS ULULARUNT TRISTA GALLI (And shaking this bloody hair, the French frightened the people with their mournful howls). Louis XVI guillotined on the Place de la Révolution, a man holding his head at arm's length and showing it to the crowd gathered around the scaffold. Flag on the left stamped DROIT DE L'HOMME and on the right: VIVRE LIBR under a bundle surmounted by the bonnet of Liberty. Signature: P. on the plinth. In the exergue: XXI JANUARIUS ANNO MDCCXCIII. Hennin 465 - Julius 254 ; Silver - 62.85 g - 51 mm - 12 h Top Pop (2): the most beautiful graded example! PCGS SP63 (55936975). Spectacular medal by Küchler, with great finesse and numerous details. In silver, this medal is very rare. It is close to mint condition with a delicate collector's patina. Superb at Fleur de coin. Conrad Heinrich Küchler was born in Flanders around 1740 and worked in Darmstadt, Mannheim and Frankfurt from around 1760 to 1775, then in France and then in England from 1793, notably for Matthew Boulton at the Soho factory, where he produced numerous works for many countries including Ireland, Denmark, Germany, Russia and France.
