Bust of the King right, cuirassed, bareheaded; below (tower). Rv. (sun) DVM. TOTVM. COMPLEAT. ORBEM (date) (tower). Cross formed of four crowned H's, cantoned by two crescents and two lilies, (workshop) in the heart of the cross. Dy.971A - G.394B = this example! - Sb.4974 - Fr.367 ; Gold - 6.44 g - 28 mm - 11 h Top Pop: this is the only graded example! From the Cabinet Albuquerque, Rouen, list January 1986, n° 6 then from the J. Teitgen collection, ALDE/OGN sale, 26 October 2015, n° 160 then from the Kestrel collection, Heritage sale, Showcase Auction 61400 n° 22061. This is the specimen that illustrates the type in Gadoury 2022, p.172. PCGS AU53 (51879523). With the large bust, with damascened cuirass. Date changed from 1555 to 1557. Slightly short flan, this copy may have been mounted. Traces of breakage on the reverse corner. Beautiful golden patina. TTB / Superb.
