FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL
Louis XIV (1643-1715). Shield with eight Ls, 2nd type reformed (in the axis) on a shield with palms [1704-1705] on 1695, T, Nantes [on X, Amiens].
Av. LVD. XIIII. D. G (sun) - FR. ET. NAV. REX. Right bust of the King, cuirassed in the antique style.
Rv. (different) SIT. NOMEN. DOMINI. BENEDICTVM (different) (date). Cross formed of eight Ls leaning, each arm crowned, with three lilies set 2 and 1 within a circle in heart, cantoned by four lilies diverging from the centre; in exergue (workshop).
Dy.1551A-B [on Dy.1520A] - G.224 - Dav.1320 ; Silver - 25,97 g - 40 mm - 6 h
Surprising example struck in Nantes, in 1704 or 1705 (T on reverse) but the reformation is perfectly in the axis of the underlying shield with palms, with the different and the date of the latter which appear: 1695 (and heart of the master Spens of Amiens: cf. MDC 9 n° 300). Fire mark on reverse. VERY GOOD.
