FRANCE / CAPETIANS - FRANCE / ROYAL Louis XIV (1643-1715). Louis with eight Ls and insignia, reformation 1702, G, Poitiers. Av. LVD. XIIII. D. G (sun) - FR. ET. NAV. REX. King's laureate head right, short hair; (date) below. Rv. CHRS - REGN - VINC - IMP (different). Cross formed of eight L's leaning, each arm crowned, with (workshop) in a heart circle, surmounted by a hand of justice and a sceptre in saltire. Dy.1443A - G.253 - Fr.436; Gold - 6.71 g - 25.5 mm - 6 h Top Pop (3): this is the most beautiful graded example! NGC AT 58 (8583599-027). The 1702 G specimens do not bear anything different, other than the reformation trefoil (which resembles a lily) on the reverse. The reformation is quite good and almost complete. With a golden patina over the original lustre. Very nice.
