Upright head of the King with short hair; below (date). Rv. .CHRS. - .REGN. - .VINC. - .IMP (different). Cross formed of four crowned lilies, with (workshop) within a circle in heart, surmounted by a hand of justice and a sceptre in saltire. Dy.1446A - G.254 - Fr.439 ; Gold - 6,71 g - 24 mm - 3 h From the Valenciennes Treasure, or the treasure of the munitions dealer Mahieu in Valenciennes. Discovered in 1949, it is known as the largest French coin treasure, with around 2,800 gold coins and 6,000 silver coins, a sum corresponding to the weekly needs of several regiments during the Malplaquet campaign in 1709. NGC XF 45 (8583599-029). Reformation on a louis of 1702. Blank defect on the scroll at 5 o'clock on the right with a slight crack in the blank visible on the reverse. With a golden patina. VERY GOOD.
