Discovered in 1949, it is known as the largest French coin treasure, with around 2,800 gold coins and 6,000 silver coins, a sum corresponding to the weekly needs of several regiments during the Malplaquet campaign in 1709. An extremely rare reformation of a Spanish 2 escudo coin! The blank is slightly oblong. Good style, with a well-engraved portrait and a clear date. The reverse legend starts at 6 o'clock.
